Plantation Management Java Application
Sole Developer — Personal Project
A palm-oil plantation company in Indonesia was making replanting decisions manually with no reliable way to compare yield per hectare, operating costs, and market prices across their data. I built a full-stack Java desktop application from requirements through to delivered software, working directly with the client throughout.
- Gathered requirements through user interviews with a non-technical plantation manager and refined them iteratively through real testing sessions
- Built Java Swing GUI with multi-page workflows and MySQL backend via JDBC for live data retrieval and structured storage
- Implemented automated YPH and net return algorithms that recalculate dynamically on any variable change, eliminating manual spreadsheet errors
- Delivered client-approved system; client cited improved reporting accuracy, faster decision-making, and better operational visibility

Challenges
- Gathering and translating client requirements from a non-technical plantation manager into functional software specifications
- Designing a relational MySQL schema to handle plantation accounts, financial data, and block-level variables
- Building dynamic algorithms for YPH, net return, and net return percentage that recalculate automatically on variable changes
Outcomes
- Delivered a complete, client-approved plantation management system meeting all stated requirements
- Automated yield and financial calculations, eliminating manual spreadsheet errors
- Client confirmed improved reporting accuracy, usability, and operational decision-making after handover
